Humber Music/NXNE
Typography, Illustration, Graphic Design, Branding
The Brief:
Humber Music and the NXNE festival were partnering to showcase five winning bands from the Humber Music battle of the bands competition. Each act playing a 40-minute set at  NXNE’s venue the Rivoli.
Humber Music was so happy with how the work on their 50th anniversary turned out that they wanted help creating memorable gifts for each of the 5 bands.
My Role:
The proposed Idea that Humber Music selected was to screen print limited edition t-shirts at the event for each of the 5 bands. My responsibility was to create a unique design for each of the bands including a common design that would be printed on the back of all the shirts.
The How:
In addition to a short Q&A I listened to and researched each of the bands to inspire and help me create the designs. For example High Flyer said they incorporate nostalgic elements into their visual aesthetics, evoking a sense of retro and vintage vibes working in unison with minimal/modern looks. This inspired me to use a retro Radio Flyer wagon as the focus of their design.
For the common back I was inspired by a music festival t-shirt I had that used a retro clothing tag design printed on the back to list all the bands from the festival. Using this as inspiration I created a concert ticket design to house all the information from the bands playing to the event information
