The Brief:
MPAC delivers an assessment roll annually to municipalities and the Province of Ontario to support the calculation of property and education taxes. In 2022 they wanted an update to the look of their report. The report required 9 property types to be featured and would allow MPAC to extract pages of the report for use on social media and their website. The report was to be created in both English and French and would then be animated into a video
My Role:
I was responsible for the creation the assessment roll fact sheet which included image selection, editing, cropping and overall typographic and infographic design. For the animated video I was responsible for the creation of the storyboard which was then animated by our motion graphics designer.
The How:
To feature the property types I had decided to have the images coming in from the the left of the page which I would then create a mask to the shape of the building to help it stand and separate it from it's background. I highlighted the overall properties assessment value by featuring it on the property type. To allow for the typographic lockups to stand out I added a gradient that used the buildings colours to harmoniously blend with the building. For the bar graphs I added playful little details like windows and doors to reinforce the property and real estate theme.
